Unicorns

I know it sounds ridiculous, but unicorns are being studied in Cryptozoology.
There have been sightings of unicorns in Toronto, Canada.
A Toronto native, Peter Hickey-Jones, captured this photo when he was trying to film a Pileated Woodpecker in Toronto.

Unicorns are difficult to define. Cryptozoologists describe them as creatures with a single horn. The horn must be natural - creatures aren't counted as unicorns if they had a horn broken off or if one failed to grow. It has to be naturally occurring.
For this reason, technically, the rhinoceros is counted to be a type of unicorn. However, rhinos do not look anything like the type found in mythology, so cryptozoologists still carry on looking.

Dragons

Dragons appear in a lot of fairy tales and mythology. It's not surprising that many people claim to have seen them.
I have found a good photo of a "dragon" that was captured by two students walking out of Jilin University.

The female student, Xiao, said "Look! A flying dragon in the sky!"
Her boyfriend, Li, quickly snapped a photo of the glowing object with the camera on his phone. That was the second record of dragon sightings that summer.

Take a look at another photo I came across.

It shows, supposedly, a small cat-sized dragon sitting on a telephone wire or some sort of cable. I'm not so sure if it is real or not, to be honest.
Just enjoy the photos.

Sea Serpents

Sea serpents have one of the longest - running histories in Cryptozoology.
For hundreds of years, people have been debating on its existence, and during the Victorian times, many species were discovered and proven real. It looked like another breakthrough was just around the corner.

However, no official discovery ever happened, so it was dropped. Sea serpents are now something of ridicule.

Sea serpents usually are up to 20 feet in length, have feathery fins on its back and sometimes has a split tail a bit like a whale. They can vary in colour from brown, grey, black or green. They have a horse-shaped head with eagle-like eyes, according to eyewitness reports.

Sightings are now quite common. Check out these photos of what appears to be a giant snake in Borneo, Indonesia. Nobody knows if these are genuine or faked.

Mermaids

Mermaids are usually frowned upon in Cryptozoology, as it is unlikely that such a creature could survive. They sound so unreal, many cryptozoologists who spend a lot of time studying them can be ridiculed. The only reason why some people study them is that there were loads of ancient records depicting mermaids talkative, humanoid creatures with the lower half of a fish.

Mermaids and their male counterparts, mermen (collectively known as "merfolk") are found in legends on just about every coastline in the world.

The sheer number of sightings almost seem to force cryptozoologists to pay attention! The difference is that eyewitness reports describe mermaids very differently from folklore. Whereas mermaids from fairy tales  describe them as beautiful, blonde, talkative creature who are entirely human from the waist up, first hand reports describe them to have black hair, silent, and have some fishy characteristics on the tail as well as the waist up.

Many cryptozoologists reckon that if mermaids like to hang around the coastline, then bodies may have been found already. Also, since nobody has come up with a genuine photo of one, many sceptics remain unconvinced.

Please take a look at my post here.

A Short Notice

Sometimes, in my blog, the photos do not show up, and instead an orange box appears. If this happens, please let me know, but in the meantime, to view the photo, please click on the orange box.

"Bownessie" Sighted in Lake District

You may have heard of the famous Nessie in Scotland. Now there are sightings of monsters in Lake District.

Work colleagues Sarah Harrington and Tom Pickles saw what they described as a snake.
"At first I thought it was a dog and then saw it was much bigger and moving really quickly at about 10 mph,"he said.

Alien Caught on Deer Camera

I came across this rather disturbingly realistic photo of an alien monster caught on a deer camera. Experts reckon it's real.

I don't really care - it creeps me out.
What do you think this thing is?

Mothmen

Cryptozoologists don't tend to study Mothmen as they seem to ridiculous to be true. Chances are that you have never heard of mothmen, as people don't tend to see them anymore.

The first mothmen sightings seem to date back in the mid 60's. They were sighted in West Virginia and  Virginia in a forest known as the "TNT Area," where hunters, lovers and misbehaving teenagers usually go.

The TNT Area is mostly forest, but does have a few grassland clearings and concrete domes.

People who have claimed to have seen mothmen have had mental breakdowns or have become mad.
Mothmen don't wear clothes, and have muddy-brown skin. They have bodies much like humans, but have huge, moth-like wings and they have a grotesque face like an insect.
They are around 4 to 5 feet tall and walk with a shuffle that eyewitnesses compare to a penguin. They can fold their wings like an eagle.

Angels

In cryptozoology, angels are considered to be related to fairies.

Many people believe that angels are the messengers of God, so imagine how surprised people felt when they saw one. As it is Valentine's day, I thought this might be appropriate!

Here are some photos of angels.

Fairies

Fairies are considered to be a type of angel or sprite in cryptozoology. They are also a type of winged humanoid.

Traditionally, fairies are said to have the ability to enchant or cast spells over people. Mostly, fairies are considered to be good, but there have been records of them kidnapping or even killing people. On the other hand, some farmers have said that fairies have helped with their crops.

The first photograph of fairies was a prank photo taken by Elsie Wright, 15, and Frances Griffiths, 10, in Cottingley.

The media raved about it, until Elsie admits that they were fake. However, she still did claim that she saw fairies...

People still manage to snap shots of fairies. Here are a few photos.

Haunted Ride at Thorpe Park Removed

I have came across this interesting article (click here) on a haunted ride in Thorpe Park.
There have been sightings of a "headless monk" and staff working on the premises report that they feel like that they're being watched and feel cold. Objects have even been found moving...

A paranormal detective agency have been called in to do some tests.

Apparently, Storm Surge, a 20-metre tall water ride was built on an ancient pathway which lead to nearby Chertsey Abbey.

Storm Surge

Paranormal expert Jim Arnold says, "The results were so strong we felt the only explanation could be that an ancient burial ground or settlement was being disturbed, prompting the extra paranormal activity."

"Although this could simply be an old building, with Thorpe Park's history the investigation is definitely worth continuing."

Aliens - Are We Being Watched?

Here is another example of "Out of Place" in cryptozoology - aliens. We aren't sure of their existence, but the definition of "alien" is an organism that doesn't belong in a specific place. Usually, when we say "alien" we are referring to an extraterrestrial (a living thing that does not originate from Earth).
Considering the size of the Universe, I say that the chances of life from an alien planet is pretty high.

Records of aliens have been around a lot longer than most of us think.

Take these surprising finds:

Sahara Desert, 6000 BC

Baptism of Christ, 1710

Now the invention of the camera has made it easier for people to capture UFOs (please remember that UFO just stands for Unidentified Flying Object. If an object is flying, and nobody knows what it is THEN it is a UFO... until somebody figures out what it is.)

Here are some snaps of UFOs.

"BIg Cats" in England

Cryptozoology is not only on things that people are not sure of their existence - it's also on things that are out of place.
Take the big cat sightings in England. Usually, the most exciting wildlife you get here is either a fox or an odd little falcon, or even perhaps some sheep. However, people have reported around 38 "big cat" sightings in England over the past four years.

Not only the mass report of sightings can support the fact that it exists but there have been carcasses of dead livestock and even a roe deer that have teeth marks on them of those of a big cat. Once, somebody in Somerset reported a big cat as tall as a small car.

70 Year Old Footage of a Mermaid Found

I've just found this amazing video of 70 year old footage of a mermaid found in the BBC archives. Experts say that the footage is genuine...

New Look

Hi!
I've just changed my background. Please tell me what you think about it! I also find your feedback very helpful, so please tell me what I can do to change my blog, because there's always room for improvement.
